St Marks Anglican Church

Two South Sea Islanders, Annie Bosun and Johnny Quarrie were members of the congregation that first met in the School of Arts before the first church was built in 1917.

In 2004 Bruce Boase, an indigenous Anglican was appointed as curate (assistant priest) at St Marks and served until 2006, when he was appointed rector at St John’s Enogerra.

Gubbi Gubbi elders Aunty Jenny Thompson and Lyndon Davis has performed Welcomes to Country on Australia Day and other occasions.
